Recruitment of New Board Directors/Committee Members
The Saint John of God Housing Association (SJOGHA) is a company limited by guarantee, a registered charity, and a housing body registered with the Approved Housing Body Regulatory Authority. SJOGHA provides secure, affordable and quality rented accommodation for people with intellectual disabilities or mental illness. It works in partnership with Saint John of God Community Services which provides professional support and social care for the tenants. The Association aspires to be a leading specialist housing association in Ireland, promoting the right to independent and supported living.

In light of developments in the legislative and regulatory framework within which voluntary housing associations operate, the Board wishes to augment the Board and its committees and is seeking expressions of interest from people to serve as Directors and/or committee members and those with interest in the position of Chair. We would like to hear from people who, in addition to possessing relevant professional expertise and experience, have a particular interest in the people we support and an affinity with the values of SJOGHA – Hospitality, Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Justice.
Since SJOGHA is a registered charity, its Board and committee members do not receive any payment for services apart from travel or other expenses if applicable.
Expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas in particular would be desirable:
- Voluntary Social Housing, Intellectual Disability, Human Resources
- Tenant welfare and management
- Property management, procurement and development
- Financial management, including asset management
- Legal experience preferably with property/construction background
- Risk management, ESG, Cyber security
- Advocacy/PR/Communications/Political Affairs
- Organisational systems and development.
As well as possessing the relevant professional expertise and experience, applicants should also have a personal interest in the people we support and an affinity with the values of Saint John of God and supporting people to experience an enriched quality of life.
As a registered charity, our board and committee members do not receive any payment for their services.
