A CALL FOR NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS:

Since 1879 the Order of Saint John of God in Ireland have been leaders and innovators in providing services to the most vulnerable children and adults in Ireland, the UK, Korea, Malawi and other places.

Saint John of God Community Services clg (SJOGCS) is one of the largest providers of its kind in the State. Our dedicated staff of 2,500 support almost 8,000 children and adults with intellectual disability and mental ill health in Ireland. Saint John of God Community Services clg is part of the wider Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Group.

Residential services for people with intellectual disability are regulated by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). Our Board and executive management team are committed to providing and developing our services cost effectively in accordance with applicable legislation, national policy and international best practice.

Our services are provided on behalf of the HSE by way of a Service Arrangement which is funded by the HSE. SJOGCS has been in discussions with the HSE on the adequacy of the funding arrangements. A process was agreed with the HSE in February 2024 to bring this to a conclusion in the current year.

Expressions of interest are now being sought from individuals with expertise, experience or lived experience in one or more of these areas

The Board has four standing committees as follows:

Quality, Safety and Regulatory Compliance; Audit, Risk (non-clinical) and Compliance, Finance and Human Resources, Nominations, Performance and Governance

As well as possessing the relevant professional expertise and experience, applicants should also have a personal interest in the people we support and an affinity with the values of Saint John of God and supporting people to experience an enriched quality of life.

As a registered charity, our Board members do not receive any payment for their services.
