A CALL FOR (a) NEW DIRECTORS AND (b) NEW BOARD SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS:
Since 1879 the Order of Saint John of God in Ireland have been leaders and innovators in providing services to the most vulnerable children and adults in Ireland, the UK, Korea, Malawi and other places.
Saint John of God Community Services clg is a Registered Charity. It is one of the largest service providers of its kind in the State. Our dedicated staff of 2,500 support almost 8,000 children and adults with intellectual disability and mental ill health in Ireland. Saint John of God Community Services clg is part of the wider Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Group.
Our services, funded by the HSE, are provided by way of a Service Arrangement. Residential services for people with intellectual disability are regulated by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). Our Board and executive management team are committed to providing and developing our services in accordance with current legislation, national policy and international best practice.
Expressions of interest are now being sought from suitably qualified individuals willing to serve in either of two roles (a) as a director of SJOGCS or (b) as a non-director on one of the four standing subcommittees of the board. We would especially welcome expressions of interest from individuals with professional qualifications in Mental Health and/or Intellectual Disability. Our constitution allows for non-directors to serve on our committees and our experience of this arrangement has been really positive. The committees are;
- Quality, Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Audit, Risk (non-clinical) and Compliance
- Finance and Human Resources
- Nominations, Performance and Governance
As well as possessing the relevant professional expertise and experience, applicants should also have a personal interest in the people we support and an affinity with the values of Saint John of God and supporting people to experience an enriched quality of life.
As a registered charity, our board and committee members do not receive any payment for their services.
