Princess of Asturias Award 2015
The Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God has been chosen as the recipient of the Princess of Asturias Award for Concord 2015. The Princesa de Asturias Foundation jury chose the Order from among 27 candidates of 26 different nationalities as a tribute to its work of caring for the most needy for over five centuries.
The Prior General, Brother Jesús Etayo, said, “It is an award which pays tribute to all those whom our institution cares for throughout the world. Many of them are threatened by social exclusion and a high degree of social vulnerability, including people suffering from sickness, substance dependence, homelessness, immigrants, people with disabilities and the aged."
