Congratulations to everyone who took part in Job Shadow Day 2015. Mary O’Halloran, Manager of STEP, our Supported Employment Service, is also chair of IASE (Irish Association of Supported Employment) East Region. The IASE East region provides information and support to157 organisations and Mary’s Job Shadow Day committee members include STEP, Carmona, Kildare and Menni Services, WALK, RehabCare, Nua Healthcare, Stewarts Hospital and KARE.
She says: "Job Shadow Day 2015 was a great success. The photos below tell the story! Over 60 of our Job Seekers supported by Saint John of God Community Services were involved in work placements with mentors on the day. This year we worked in partnership with NLN (National Learning Network) Bray, Roslyn Park College, RehabCare and EVE Tuiscint on shared placements which meant mentoring on how to participate in Job Shadow and also placing and supporting a number of their students on the day. The co-operation and enthusiasm of companies has been tremendous. Ultimately the ideal outcome for job seekers is to get a job and to gain from the Job Shadow experience."
Mary adds: “Thanks to everyone involved for your commitment and huge appreciation to all our Job Coaches for the hard work that goes into the day long before it happens. A special thanks to senior managers for getting behind Job Shadow Day."
